What is the most cost effective way to market my new website?

Posted by admin on December 5th, 2010 and filed under ecommerce marketing | 7 Comments »

I just launched a new ecommerce website for my retail business. In the past I have used Traffic Blazer to promote my site. Am I better off paying for Google sponsered ads and Yahoo’s equivalent or sticking with something like Traffic Blazer? I’d like to spend less than $2000 on internet advertising. Thanks for any ideas or feedback!

There are some really good advertisers out there. I have a few listed on my blog. If you want to check them out just check it out. On the right side you’ll see the spot that says Advertisers.

Why are most people so PESSIMISTIC?

Posted by admin on December 3rd, 2010 and filed under ecommerce marketing | 7 Comments »

The negativity is all around us and it is contagious. Do people just NEED to be negative in order to feel better about themselves?

Whenever I go to seminars there is ALWAYS somebody there who wants to then give their own little mini-seminar on the break or in the restroom telling you why the seminar presenters are all full of crap and why what they are selling just will not work.

Usually these are people who you can tell are not very successful in life. Do they perhaps need to be downers in order to feel better about their own failures in life? I really want to know what others think because I have my own views on this. I’ve attended seminars and presentations by some of the most well known and undeniably successful entrepreneurs in their industry (real estate; Forex investing; Stock Trading; eCommerce Marketing; mail-order; etc.) and these pessimists even say those things about them! I do feel so terribly sorry for the many who never learn that the way to learn how to acquire real wealth is from sitting at the feet of those who have acquired it (and not some professor who earns $79,000 a year IF he’s really good.)

Have you had this experience with pessimism -versus- optimism? Are YOU one of these people? If so then please explain WHY you always see the glass as half full rather than half empty. Has this pessimism worked for you?
Excuse me. I mis-typed. I meant to say WHY do you see the glass as half empty? Or …why do you focus more on the negative rather than the positive in a thing. This is the pessimists trademark.

Okay, first, let’s clear something up. Pessimists are the one’s who see the glass half empty. Optimist’s see it as half full.

Second, a lot of times, people who give seminars are con men. I went to one about how to trade in options, selling put’s and call’s, the whole nine yards. How if you traded in options, it was virtually impossible to lose. And this guy was going to teach us for the low, low price of $30,000.00, for a 6 week course. There was one guy in the audience who asked, wouldn’t it be better to take that 30 thousand dollars and get an undergraduate degree at an accredited college? The speaker notified his goons to shut that guy down.

During our lunch break, I happened to see this person and invited him to lunch with me. But one of the goons had followed the renegade and tried to prevent him from having lunch with me. He claimed that the renegade was "disrupting" HIS customers (me, I suppose). I told Andrew, (the goon) that it was okay, I WANTED to have lunch with him. So he backed down.

I didn’t get into the program. I was just curious about it.

However, there ARE people who are pathologically skeptical. I once mentioned in passing, to some dickwad I used to work with that I knew someone who won a bronze medal in the Olympics, many years ago. This clown goes "unh unh!" As in "no you don’t". Excuse me? He doesn’t know jack shiit about me and he’s suddenly telling me I can’t know anyone who won an olympic medal, because…because why?…because HE doesn’t know anybody himself?

What is the best way to market a new product line? I need some suggestions 4 improving my eCommerce business?

Posted by admin on December 1st, 2010 and filed under ecommerce marketing | 3 Comments »

I have had my business up and running now since around January 1st 2008. I am getting a decent amount of traffic on both the site and the blog, but not meeting any sales forecasts I have made. Any suggestions for improvement would be appreciated!

    http://www.g-bags.com is the eCommerce site.

    http://g-bags.typepad.com/my_weblog/ is the blog!

    Peace and Happy reading!

Look to where the market is at: there are 50 million of the hottest buyers you can reach for free via MySpace and YouTube. You need to make a really hot video and use it to have others promote you.

Go to Youttube and search "pancakes." View the vid that has nearly 3 million hits. What’s wrong? –They had NO commercial sponsor!

People have yet to figure out how to make the web pay off: I work with an agency that made a Paris Hilton spoof video and it Carl’s Jr’s asked them to allow be viewed on their site. It got 20 million views and the execs at CJ attributed it to amassing over $25 mil in additional free publicity for them. But the agency got zilch, and is still trying to figure out how to capitalize…

I went to your sites and you can created targeted publicity situations for your product, but you have to be bright about it. Any good PR or marketing person should be able to do this no prob. Also, I’d look into how to get your product carried by chain retailers…

I have a website and I want to start selling items. How can I build a better website with online store? ?

What is the best software to build an ecommerce website with shoping carts and all? I do have a host;all I need is to build the website on my desktop and send it online. What is the best software to build one at home out in the market or free online?

you should try using pharaohcart.com its not free but very affordable. ecommerce sites can be tricky to set up. and when you use free carts it takes much skill.

pharaohcart.com has excellent support team and proffesional web designers that will set up your cart ssl certificate and help you get set up with a merchant account. all free of charge. its best to let the proffesionals handle it so you get a proffesional store open. you don’t want a half done site becouse your customers will take notice.

there shopping cart is very easy to use and is web based inside your browser. you can customize you entire store add products, email, seo and more all through there powerful control panel.

its very affordable. they charge on a one time set up fee. they allow you to choose from thousands of templates. they will customize it for you add your logos graphics, special featuers ect at no charge!

you can check out a sample store on there site to take a look at all of its powerful featues.

i hope this helps. i have like 7 stores hosted with them and i would use another service! perfect A+++++

What’s the best way to improve my search engine rankings.?

I’ve been trying to learn SEO for about a month now and all I really get is a bunch of information that I can’t actually apply. I have an ecommerce store that I would like to market and get some good search engine rankings.

Is there any good SEO blueprints out there, that will teach how to rank step by step?

I was in your shoes a few years ago and I feel your pain. You can learn all the SEO in the world but if you don’t have a solid step by step game plan, chances are you won’t get any results.

When it comes down to it, SEO is all about

    1. Finding the right keywords to rank for

    2. Optimizing your website to rank in Google for those keywords

    3. Then building backlinks with those keywords

Of course there is a system to each of those steps but it would take all day for me to explain. You can visit my SEO blog if you get more info. It’s in the resources section right below.

Have you ever used Joomla CMS to set up an ecommerce website?

Posted by admin on November 21st, 2010 and filed under ecommerce marketing | 2 Comments »

Telll what you think. It would be important to me if you mentioned whether you’re a PC geek, or someone trying to market product and not necessarily a programmer..

    Hi there,

I would like to start of by saying that I dont have an IT or programming background. I have however operated a number of websites over the last few years and have helped scores of friends with setting up their websites.

I have been involved with setting up Joomla for several ecommerce websites including a very large online travel website.

The benefits of using Joomla as your CMS are as follows:

    - Open source so its a free product

    - A CMS like Joomla is really easy to use especially if you there is a lot of content and pages.

    - There are new Joomla products being developed constantly which can be integrated with the CMS. (not all of those are free of charge though) You can see a list of the Joomla extensions at: http://extensions.joomla.org/

    - Easy and fast changes can be made to layout, design, website architecture etc.

    Negative Items about Joomla:

    - Website visitors can experience a rather slow loading website which can be due to a number of reasons including host.

    – Many people complain that all the websites using open source CMS like Joomla all look the same and have the same feel.

    - Many industry experts still consider cms systems like Joomla to be somewhat search engine unfriendly due to the dynamic nature of the system and the coding. A website build with a normal html builder such as dreamweaver (http://www.adobe.com/products/dreamweaver/) or Xsite Pro (http://xsitepro.com/) normally produces much better results in the SERPS in both the short and long run.

    – Developement and support of a number of open source CMS systems have over the years suddenly stopped leaving website owners with no where to go when their system breaks down or changes are needed.

This has happened to CMS systems which at one time were very popular as Joomla is now. A commercial CMS system will allow for you to receive support fast and efficiently.

Good luck with making the right choice and don’t forget to visit the open source csm website where they offer test versions of all major open source cms systems. You can find the site at: http://www.opensourcecms.com/
